From the San Francisco or Oakland Airports,  take EVANS TRANSPORTATION  directly to Napa and rent a car through   Budget Rent a Car.   They can leave it at Evans for you to pick up if you call them directly at 707-224-7846.   If you are downtown in San Francisco, it is fun to take the ferry to Vallejo on the BAY LINK FERRY and rent a car from Vallejo.

The following directions are assuming you are coming from South of Napa.

From the South

1. Take Hwy.  29 north towards Napa
2. Stay on Hwy 29 until you get to the Trancas-Redwood road Exit.  At the end of the exit ramp, there is a light,  turn left (west).  You will cross the freeway. Continue West  on Redwood RD. for 4 1/2   miles.  You will see a strip Mall on your left,  immediately after you leave Hwy 29 on your left after the gas station.  .  There is a grocery store, Vallargas, here that has a deli.   After the store, you will continue in the same direction, (west).   There is a fork and you will stay to the left of the fork.  ie, you will stay on  Redwood RD.
3. Continue on Redwood Rd. as it begins to climb a hill and become wooded, at about the 4.5 mile mark from the freeway, , Redwood Rd makes a sharp left across the bridge.   DO NOT CROSS THIS BRIDGE.  You will continue straight and you will be on Mt Veeder Rd.
4. Continue 3 1/2 miles and you will see a mailbox on the right side of the road, with the address 2080.  On the left is our gate with the address number (2080) in gold numbers.  You will have passed the lower gate with the address in black numbers.. 
5. You will be given the code to open the gate.   The Upper gate slides across, so you can park near it.  THE LOWER GATE OPENS OUT--PLEASE PARK AT THE CONTROL BOX AND DO NOT MORE FORWARD UNTIL THE GATE OPENS.  Please use the upper gate to enter, and the lower gate to exit, as the turns are easier.
6. You will drive past the main house, and opposite the garage (on  your right), you will see the driveway for the cottage..   The drive way to the cottage is steep and about 100 ft long.  Go slowly and carefully.  You will park next to the cottage. Proceed to the cottage and it will be open for you. 
7. Mt Veeder Rd is  wooded and beautiful road, it always seems long the first time.

From the North

1. Take Hwy 29 south towards Napa
2. Turn right (west) on  Redwood Rd.
3. Continue on Redwood Rd. for 41/2   miles.  At this point Redwood Rd. makes a sharp left across the bridge.   DO NOT CROSS
4. THIS BRIDGE.  You will continue straight and you will be on Mt Veeder Rd.
5. Continue from number 4 above.
